A big apology

Sorry guys but my laptop is currently dead and in for repairs so no posts for the foreseeable future!  I saved up some money for a tablet so this could be my excuse to finally buy one??? I really want a windows 8 tablet, the interface is SO COOL! I had a windows phone which I adored but sadly I dropped it down the toilet when I was drunk and killed it (oops)
Let me know if you want me to do any kind of posts like "how I wear ___ " or whatever

Valentine's day meal

Heeeeeeey this isn't a proper outfit post as the dress I originally ordered for valentine's day didn't fit properly so I had to go with what was clean in my wardrobe, which ended up being this black, crochet skater dress from Topshop. I had never had my boyfriend take photos of me before hence the weird photo as we were both goofing around so much! There's only one photo because the rest of the were even more ridiculous.....

It's a really simply dress that I found in the sale last year, but it's such a good dress for throwing on if you don't know what else to wear. I matched it with some simple jewellery - the rings from Kukee I featured in this blog post and also some silver earrings with green gemstones. Despite the rubbish weather, I wanted to wear my new cut out shoes from Primark (via ebay). They're so cute, but totally useless in the rain. I had very very wet feet after walking from the restaurant to a bar with my boyfriend.
The cut out bits are so adorable and now I definitely need to go and buy some new socks, as I only seem to own sports socks or knitted socks from my mum!
Love, Grace x
Ps, I had the silent room in the library to myself today so I put on this song and had a little boogie! Nothing like some 80s tunes as a blogging soundtrack!

An experimental post...

If you follow me on tumblr, you'll probably already know that I love music nearly as much as I love my clothes! I play a bunch on instruments and am almost constantly listening to music and trying to find new things to listen to. Being up in Aberdeen is very frustrating as there is a very small music scene here as opposed to the enormous scene I'm used to back in Glasgow! Last weekend, I took a trip back to Glasgow to visit my parents and I went to my favourite music store - Fopp. Fopp is a chain which I think is managed by HMV but is a lot more reasonably priced than HMV and is purely for music, books and dvds and not games. I picked up a few things when I was there wooohoooo
I got two vinyls, although admittedly one was actually from amazon, but it arrived in the post at the same time. Listening to vinyl is something I love to do as the quality of the sounds, although not as clear as MP3 sounds awesome and warm and fuzzy and it just perfect for horrible winter days like we have just now.
I got this cd by Paper Aeroplanes as I'm going to see them in february and I decided I wanted a hardcopy of their music. I nearly never buy cds these days, only vinyl and mp3, so it was a nice little change. I got that nice warm feeling when I lent it to my flatmates, sharing is caring!

As well as music, the books in Fopp are unbelievably cheap, with most for 2 for £5!!!!!!! With exams and uni deadlines, I haven't been able to read properly in a while but I bought American Psycho to try and encourage me to start reading for pleasure again.
and FINALLY I also got this Coco Chanel DVD for only £3. (Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky). I'm yet to watch it but I'm very excited as Igor Stravinsky is one of my favourite composers, so it managed to cross THREE of my favourite things (fashion, music and cinema)

I hope you like this post, I thought I might branch out from fashion and style posts completely to other things I'm passionate about. Let me know what you think in comments!!

ps, look at this William Morris wrapping paper I stole from my mum?! How gorgeous is it?? I'm going to mount things on my wall with it or maybe make a valentine's card for my boyfriend!!

Gingham and leather

As my sister has been telling me for weeks, gingham is a must for s/s14. I have been waiting for this for what seems my whole life as ever since I was in primary school, I wanted to wear my gingham summer dress all year round. I just discovered last week though that it's much harder to style gingham for adults without looking like a big baby (sob sob sob). After weeping over the whitepepper's gingham shirt and it's £45 price tag, I tore myself away from it and bought this gorgeous little cropped gingham top from Topshop.
I adore the boxy style, it's so adorable! In order to not look "bigbaby" ish in my gingham top, I paired it with this quilted leather skirt from Primark which was only £5 - boom!!! The leather adds a tougher element, which takes from the little checks and gives an alternative look to the otherwise cute design.

Top - Topshop, Skirt - Primark, shoes - newlook
I got these boots last week in New Look for only £25 with my student discount - what a bargain. I wanted to do a monocrome look and these are perfect for that. I've also noticed loads of bloggers wearing black shoe with a chunky white sole so I was quick to snap these little beauties up for myself. I've worn the shoes on two nights out now and they're unbelievably comfy and cushioned my feet all night long :) They need a good scrub now though, as they are little worse for wear.....

I just went back to uni yesterday but I'm so unbelievably excited for next year as I found out I'm going to be an au pair in the centre of Paris!!! I can't imagine a more perfect way to spend my year.

I hope you are all having a lovely tuesday :)
Love,
